“Deflect the harsh words of my critics–but what you say is always good. See how hungry I am for your counsel; preserve my life through your righteous ways!” Psalm 119:39-40 Msg
“Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good. How I long for your precepts! Preserve my life in your righteousness.” Psalm 119:39-49, NIV
No matter which translation or interpretation we read, the bottom line is God’s Word is Truth and it is complete. God’s Word makes us complete and righteous when we obey. But alas, we are human. God’s Word, manifested in His Son, our Deliverer and Redeemer from the debt of sin, provides for our salvation and our freedom!
God’s Word Became Flesh!
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.” John 1:1-5, NIV
Nothing else compares to knowing and following Jesus, God’s Son, with the help of the Holy Spirit! Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Yes, this is ALL I want, too.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for Your Son, Jesus, who came to earth to seek and save lost people and also to teach us to love by serving others. Thank you for the perfect example of what the Word teaches us to follow. You ARE all I want. Cleanse me, make me white as snow. Take away from me all that offends you.
I pray that You are all my brother wants some day and all that my family and friends want, too. I even pray for my enemies who criticize because of how little they know…bring them to You, Lord. Bless those who curse us. Keep us in alignment with Your will and purpose. Help us to “wash the feet” of those You have given us to serve. Just like Jesus.
In Jesus Name, Amen
