“Don’t leave me to the mercy of my enemies, for I have done what is just and right. Please guarantee a blessing for me. Don’t let those who are arrogant oppress me! My eyes strain to see your deliverance, to see the truth of your promise fulfilled.”
“I am your servant; deal with me in unfailing love, and teach me your principles. Give discernment to me, your servant; then I will understand your decrees.” Psalm 119:121-125, NLT
Two songs come to mind as I read this on a Friday morning, after a full week of work. One is an old popular, secular song…
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin’ for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
The Psalmist is praying for eyes that see clearly, even if there are obstacles in our way. If we see the obstacles, we can deal with them, see a way around them, with God’s leading, unfailing love working in us, along with the discernment of the Holy Spirit. Yes! What encouragement!
The other song that comes to mind is the chorus…
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart,
I want to see you…
I want to see you.
To see You high and lifted up,
Shining in the Light of Your Glory
Pour out Your Power and Love
As we sing, Holy, Holy, Holy…

YES, LORD, YES…may these songs be our prayer. And give us a bright, bright SON-shiny day, no matter what!
In Jesus Name, Amen
And I’m singing….
