The Psalmist and I are up before the sun, praying to God who is King of kings and LORD of our lives. We are not perfect. We know that about ourselves. We also know that God knows us better than we know ourselves. So we are up before the sun to learn from Him, talk with him about our lives currently and feel his Presence as we comforts and guides us on THIS day, this new day, as our love for each other is expressed and felt. 

Yes, Lord, “give us this day” our daily manna from Your Word to us. Yesterday’s manna was used up on that day’s needs. Now we need your guidance and encouragement for this day. Fill us full of hope that gives us confidence for THIS day. And may Your glory be seen through our lives. Telll us what you know we need most. Thank you!

“I pray with all my heart; answer me, LORD! I will obey your principles. I cry out to you; save me, that I may obey your decrees. I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words. I stay awake through the night, thinking about your promise. In your faithful love, O LORD, hear my cry; in your justice, save my life.”

“…you are near, O LORD, and all your commands are true. I have known from my earliest days that your decrees never change.” Psalm 119:145-152, NLT

And Jesus told his disciples, “…your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! Pray like this:

Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored.
May your kingdom come soon. 
May your will be done here on earth, just as it is in heaven.
Give us food for today,
and forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us.
And Don’t let us yield to temptation, 
but deliver us from the evil one.”
