LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLE #2: PRAY!
“If you are too busy to pray, you are busier than God wants you to be.” –Wanda Brunstetter
Bill Hybels, noted pastor of Willowcreek, says we are “Too Busy Not to Pray”. For the past twenty years Too Busy Not to Pray has stood as a classic on prayer, helping Christians all over the world slow down to draw near to God. During those years, the world certainly hasn’t slowed down. If anything, the pace, intensity and number of distractions have only increased.
JESUS CHRIST, before DOING anything of importance while he was on earth, prayed…asking the Father for each next step in his mission. “So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.” (John 5:19, NLT) He got away by himself to pray. He taught his disciples to pray. Jesus knew that prayer was a holy connection and communication with God, The Father that should not be broken…with our busyness. We are not that important not to pray. He is God and we are not.
Who are we NOT to pray?
“The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about your business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.” 1 Timothy 2, Msg

Dear Heavenly Father, This knowledge and direction for living well comes from you. That’s why, no matter what, we begin each day talking life over with you. Thank you for the this connection. Thank you, dear Jesus, for being our Priest-Mediator between God, The Father and us. We live in simple faith and trust in you, free to come to you anytime because of Your work on the cross. Thank you! What’s next?, Abba Father, what’s next? In Jesus Name, Amen
