GOD’S CHARACTER WITHIN ABRAM IS SHOWN:
War breaks out all around Lot. Lot, his family and all he owns is taken as prisoners of war. Abram comes to his rescue, even chasing the enemy back and regaining possession of all the goods taken. He is honored by the local king of Sodom who wants to reward him, but Abram, a man of God, replied, “I have solemnly promised the LORD, God, Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, that I will not take so much as a single thread or sandal thong from you. Otherwise you might say, ‘I am the one who made Abram rich!’ All I’ll accept is what these young men of mine have already eaten. But give a share of the good to my allies–Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre.” Genesis 14:22-24, NLT
GOD NOTICES…
“Afterward the LORD spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, ‘Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.” Genesis 15:1, NLT
ABRAM REMINDS GOD OF THE PAIN IN THE WAIT FOR A SON..
“But Abram replied, ‘O Sovereign LORD, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son?'” Genesis 15:2, NLT
THE WAIT
We do not know for sure why God made Abram wait so long for a son. God knows what is best for us, still. God is doing a work within Abram as he waits for God to bless him with descendants that will be “too many to count” like the stars, but yet, Abram waits. And God protects. God also visits Abram with reminders in elaborate ways of his promise with comforting words, “You can be sure…”
Many of us still wait today for God. In our hustle and bustle of time just doing life, we also spend, what seems to us, an enormous amount of time waiting. We wait for a situation to change, a better financial picture, a better job to come along, people to come around to our way of thinking, a better home, waiting to go home, a better car, a brighter future and circumstance. Always waiting…for “someday”. Maybe God is waiting for us.
What if we spent more time thinking about…right now, and be grateful for now. What if we took more time to relax in God’s “You can be sure.”? What would we accomplish TODAY if we spent less time worrying and waiting and more time doing God’s best in us for today? What more would be accomplished, knowing that God is with us today.
I am reminded of Jesus words, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34″So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34
Let’s spend less time waiting and more time seeking our Savior with His message of “You can be sure…”
Dear Heavenly Father, You alone, can make us be very sure. We are sure of Your love for us. We are sure that Your Son died and rose again for us. We are sure of Your constant care for us. We are sure that You want what is best for us. We are sure. We believe and trust. We love you back, dear Lord. Thank you for today. In Jesus Name, Amen

I read this and was in awe. Perhaps we really do need to start seeking instead of waiting. I am reminded of a story about a man and there was a great flood. A man came by in a raft but the man said “I am waiting on God”. A second man came by on a row boat and the man replied “I am waiting on God.” Lastly another man came by on a yacht and the man replied “I am waiting on God”. The man ultimately died from drowning and ask God, “why didn’t you save me” and God replied “I sent a raft, row boat and yacht, what more could you ask for.” If we’re like Abram or Moses, God will provide a way. But sometimes God is waiting for us on the other side to make up our minds, He will send reinforcement when we need it. But it is all about Faith!
