(The Story of Jesus)

Being perplexed about which way to go, what plan to implement, where to begin and what to do is a good place to be. It means you are still moving forward, maybe in inches, but you care enough to try to figure it all out. When that first baby step is taken, that’s when God enters…with the perfect plan. Every. Time.

“While he was trying to figure a way out, he had a dream. God’s angel spoke in the dream: ‘Joseph, son of David, don’t hesitate to get married. Mary’s pregnancy is Spirit-conceived. God’s Holy Spirit has made her pregnant. She will bring a son to birth, and when she does, you, Joesph, will name him Jesus–‘God saves’–because he will save his people from their sins.'” Matthew 1, Msg

God’s plan does not always give you that ah-ha moment of peace, and that “well, okay then” feeling. In fact, His plan, His way, in His timing is usually the most exhilarating, scary, challenging, plan beyond your wildest dreams. But, you know, without doubts, that you must do it. For God spoke to you.

Is this how Joseph felt after waking from the dream where God spoke to him?

How do we feel in the middle of life, thrown into a seemingly impossible circumstance? We can throw up our hands and scream, I give up! OR, we discover that taking a step forward, listening for God, the Father, while trying to figure things out, BAM, God steps beside us and tells us exactly what to do.

This word from God, this way out, comes in consistently walking with Him. Look to Him, face up, shoulders back, take a step, towards God. God will meet us and tell us the next step. Then the next. Like Peter trying to walk on the water with Jesus…get out of the boat and take a step toward the Savior, Guide, Provider, Redeemer, Healer and King of kings. Yes! God always has a way out, in, through, or around, but He always provides a way! He is God and we are not.

Dear Heavenly Father, Your Word, through the life of Joseph, is teaching us more than ever…as usual. I love to meet you each morning and talk about Your Word to us. Thank you for consistently giving us the next step after we take the first, so many times in our lives. Thank you for Your Holy Presence through Your Holy Spirit. We are listening, Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen.
