NO ONE BUT JESUS CAN TEACH US ABOUT PRAYER

PART THREE

(The Story of Jesus)

I loved connect the dots picture books as a kid. I loved making a complete picture then coloring it to make something beautiful…at least in my mind. I didn’t like them too easy, where you see the picture before you even begin jumping from number to number, I loved a challenge. As you can guess where I am going, I believe God is still connecting the dots in my life. I try on my own, but I don’t see the full picture. God does. I get to join Him however, in prayer as my connection to Him while He does His best work in me. Someday, my “picture” will be complete, colors and all, and He will say, well done, my good and faithful servant. At least, that is my goal.

To connect the dots we must have the connection. That comes in prayer conversation with God. It comes in listening closely to what He has to say back to us. We have to stop everything we’re doing for this time to focus, give in and give up, and just listen. Prayer is a two way conversation as well as a confession to the Almighty. He has wonderful things to say to us to encourage us. Don’t get up from you knees until you listen to Him! What a highly personal, Holy Connection we have!

Jesus clarifies for us one more time…
“In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can’t get forgiveness form God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God’s part.” –Jesus, Matthew 6, Msg

And about fasting…Jesus says…
“When you practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God, don’t make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won’t make you a saint. If you ‘go into training’ inwardly, act normally outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash your face. God doesn’t require attention-getting devices. He won’t overlook what you are doing; he’ll reward you well.” Matthew 6, Msg

Dear Heavenly Father, I adore our connection and rely on it each day, all through the day. Thank you, Jesus, for your work on the cross that completes our connection to our Father in Heaven. Continue to be with us, encouraging us to be all you intended for us to be and do. I love you with all my heart, mind and soul.
In Jesus Name, and by His power within us, Amen!

And now I listen…
