John…on Love
We are making the trek home from visiting with friends we have kept in touch with through social media and phone calls but haven’t seen in person in over twenty years. We were young married couples when we first met. Now we are not…younger. It is amazing how we can pick up where we left off. Not so, with some we grow up with, especially family who “freeze-frame” us and label us as the “kid who was…” and you can fill in the blank.
Jesus had the same problem. Yes, Jesus! He is the one who said “a prophet is not welcome in his own hometown”. That’s where that phrase began. They were impressed by what He could do but did not accept WHO is was.
John 4, The Message:
43-45 After the two days he left for Galilee. Now, Jesus knew well from experience that a prophet is not respected in the place where he grew up. So when he arrived in Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, but only because they were impressed with what he had done in Jerusalem during the Passover Feast, not that they really had a clue about who he was or what he was up to.
We who know Him, know Who He is and are grateful for His salvation, protection, provision, for just being with us through it all. May we praise the One and Only from Whom all blessings flow this morning!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Father God, thank you dear Jesus, thank you guiding Holy Spirit. Thank you Three-In-One! I love you with all my heart, mind and soul. Help us to see and encourage the growth in others and not freeze frame them in our minds. We all grow closer to You if we believe. Thank you for Your unconditional love. Thank you for continually working in and through us to be all You want us to be and do.
In Jesus Name, Amen
