John…on Love
God merely spoke the words, “Let there be light” and there was light. And added, “It was good.” His Son, Jesus Christ, who does what the Father tells Him to do, spoke and healing, restoration, renewed minds, hearts and souls happen to those who believe. Do we believe what we are asking God, in Jesus Name, to do? Do we believe the “bare words” of Jesus, like the new believer who ask that his son be healed?
John 4, The Message
46-48 Now he was back in Cana of Galilee, the place where he made the water into wine. Meanwhile in Capernaum, there was a certain official from the king’s court whose son was sick. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and asked that he come down and heal his son, who was on the brink of death. Jesus put him off: “Unless you people are dazzled by a miracle, you refuse to believe.”
49 But the court official wouldn’t be put off. “Come down! It’s life or death for my son.”
50-51 Jesus simply replied, “Go home. Your son lives.”
The man believed the bare word Jesus spoke and headed home. On his way back, his servants intercepted him and announced, “Your son lives!”
52-53 He asked them what time he began to get better. They said, “The fever broke yesterday afternoon at one o’clock.” The father knew that that was the very moment Jesus had said, “Your son lives.”
53-54 That clinched it. Not only he but his entire household believed. This was now the second sign Jesus gave after having come from Judea into Galilee.
Let us meditate and reflect on this: What will “clinch it” for us? And for our household? How much more does God have to be and do to prove His love for us until we unreservedly believe?
Dear Heavenly Father, You are God and we are not. We believe in the power of Your Son as our advocate and Savior. When we pray, crying out to You, we know You hear us and will do what You know is best for us, even it is not remotely close to what we can imagine. So we put all our trust on You, all our faith based on your “bare words” for when You speak, things happen! Praise God from Whom all blessing, healing, restorations and renewal flows. In Jesus Name, Amen. I believe.
