“Help needy Christians; be inventive in hospitality.”
Romans 12, The Message
People say I am creative, but I don’t think I have used this talent to be “inventive” in hospitality. I do like to spice things up a bit in whatever situation I am in for I will admit I have a short attention span due to years teaching kids who have the same malady. Why does Paul tell us to be inventive? Maybe, when we are being hospitable, it becomes a habit without love, a program, a task like cleaning the church, a job without love in our hearts for the people in which we are serving? Yikes!
Hospitality is expressed best at hotels where they have been specifically trained in putting others interest ahead of their own so the customer will come back. We could learn a lot from good hotel staff and apply those same learned abilities within the church…for different reasons…we love God and we love others…unconditionally.
Love is at the center because God is love and God is the center of our lives as believers. We begin from the point of center so all we are and do is aligned from that place. Now, with God’s Holy Spirit, Who created heaven and earth, can help us be more creative in our hospitality and helpfulness to others? Mm, this makes sense to me. How about you?
Respond to this…what are some ways we could be more creative in our hospitality? More than just inviting someone out to eat?
Go…reflect, think, plan and do…then give us all some ideas we could use to step up our own inventiveness in hospitality! May God bless us in this exercise! Respond in the comments….I will do some research myself and give a “report” tomorrow. ; )

Dear Heavenly Father, You are Creator of all. You are in all. You are in control of all. You have me. Now, do what You must in me to have me where you want me to be and do. But, do it gently. Help us all to be more inventive in hospitality that comes from a heart of love for You and others. Help us to help others in the best ways possible. You help us when we don’t even know we need it. Help us to be that to someone else. This is bigger than us. In Jesus Name, Amen
