Being and Becoming God’s own
At dad’s funeral last month, we were impressed that two officers of the Navy came to perform the flag ceremony of folding it up properly in an ordered way to give respect for dad’s service to his country long ago. I remember that as I read Paul’s words to the Corinthians about out temporary “tents” being folded up and put away for good so they can be replaced by resurrection bodies in heaven. If this does not secure our hope, then what will? Our only hope is in the living resurrected Jesus, King of kings and Lord of lords. Proclaim it. Live it…until camping here is over, we pack up our tents and live forever with Him!
2 Corinthians 5, The Message
1-5 For instance, we know that when these bodies of ours are taken down like tents and folded away, they will be replaced by resurrection bodies in heaven—God-made, not handmade—and we’ll never have to relocate our “tents” again. Sometimes we can hardly wait to move—and so we cry out in frustration. Compared to what’s coming, living conditions around here seem like a stopover in an unfurnished shack, and we’re tired of it! We’ve been given a glimpse of the real thing, our true home, our resurrection bodies! The Spirit of God whets our appetite by giving us a taste of what’s ahead. He puts a little of heaven in our hearts so that we’ll never settle for less.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for hope of eternity. Thank you for saving our souls. Thank you for preparing a place for us before we get there. Thank you for loving us more than we can imagine. Continue to go with us, giving us all You know we will need for the “hike” on today’s journey. in Jesus Name, Amen
