POWERFUL PRAYER

Taking a Hike Through Hebrews

Prayer. It is an exercise in humility. Prayer is telling God we need help and knowing He will, indeed, help us. Prayer pumps new energy into tired bodies and broken, crushed spirits. Prayer is the holy privilege to approach the Throne of God, Himself, in Jesus Name, and speak with Him. Prayer is being silent and hearing God speak to us as He reaches down to the depth of our souls with wisdom, love, mercy, compassion and grace. Prayer is thanking Him for all the blessings and help He gives each day.

Prayer is being in His Presence and acknowledging that He was there all the time, by gratefully looking up, into His face. Prayer is moving towards God and embracing Him as He holds out his arms to us. Prayer is a warm hug that lingers from heaven. Prayer keeps us alive and well in this journey here until we speak with Him there, face to face. I thank our Heavenly Father for prayer. I thank Jesus Christ, who made the way to the Father and who stands with us as we pray. I thank the Holy Spirit who prays for us when we don’t have the words to speak.

The following passage is a beautiful prayer to pray for each other. If you have a loss for words, this is a beginning. What a beautiful way to end a letter to believers who are seeking God and His righteousness.

Hebrews 13, The Message

18-21 Pray for us. We have no doubts about what we’re doing or why, but it’s hard going and we need your prayers. All we care about is living well before God. Pray that we may be together soon.

May God, who puts all things together,
makes all things whole,
Who made a lasting mark through the sacrifice of Jesus,
the sacrifice of blood that sealed the eternal covenant,
Who led Jesus, our Great Shepherd,
up and alive from the dead,
Now put you together, provide you
with everything you need to please him,
Make us into what gives him most pleasure,
by means of the sacrifice of Jesus, the Messiah.
All glory to Jesus forever and always!
Oh, yes, yes, yes.

Dear Heavenly Father…THIS and more. In Jesus Name, Amen

And I’m singing (another form of prayer…)

Hope for all the world, You came down,
Traded heaven’s throne for a sinner’s crown,
Grace poured out.
Son of righteousness crucified,
Hanging on the cross You paid the price,
To give us life…

In Jesus’ name our sins are washed away,
In Jesus’ name we are rescued, we are saved,
For love has come to make a way for us,
In Jesus’ name there is freedom for the broken,
In Jesus’ name there is healing for the hopeless,
For all our days, we rest in Jesus’ name…

You alone are good forever true,
Never far away, we’re holding on to You,
Only You…
