WOW, ARE WE READY?

THE CALL TO WORSHIP!
(The Preamble to the Ten!)

There is a difference between “we don’t care how you dress”, meaning we are not going to judge what you wear when you come to church and individually not caring to “dress” our body, heart, mind and soul in preparation to “hear from the LORD, God” when we come. We need to be more careful as leaders when we try to express ourselves. God is very clear to His people about what HE wants when they come to HIM.

Yes, “come as you are” to worship was not meant to roll out of bed and just show up without forethought to why you are going. We are going to come together, called BY God, to hear FROM God. The LORD is teaching the people this lesson through Moses as He call His people to come to Him.

Exodus 19:9…
Moses is affirmed as leader.
“Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘I am going to come to you in a thick cloud so the people themselves can hear me as I speak to you. Then they will always have confidence in you.'”

Clean your hearts, clean your clothes. Get ready!
“Moses told the LORD what the people had said. Then the LORD told Moses, ‘Go down and prepare the people for my visit. Purify them today and tomorrow, and have them wash their clothing. Be sure they are ready on the third day, for I will come down upon Mount Sinai as all the people watch. Set boundary lines that the people may not pass. Warn them, ‘Be careful! Do not go up on the mountain or even touch its boundaries. Those who do will certainly die!” Exodus 19, NLT

The Call of the Ram’s Horn…to hear God!
“The people must stay away from the mountain until they hear one long blast from the ram’s horn. Then they must gather at the foot of the mountain.”

Here He Comes!
“On the morning of the third day, there was a powerful thunder and lightning storm, and a dense cloud came down upon the mountain. There was a long, loud blast from a ram’s horn, and all the people trembled. Moses led them out from the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.” Exodus 19, NLT

WOW, as we say to elementary students while reading…make what you are reading into a movie in your heads so you can understand what you are reading! Imagine. Meeting with God. Hearing from God, Himself. See this in your heads!

“As the horn blast grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God thundered his reply for all to hear. The LORD came down on the top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of the mountain.” Exodus 19, NLT

We, who claim Jesus as OUR Savior and LORD, can! We can come to Him each day to hear from Him. Because of Jesus Christ, coming down from heaven, living on earth, teaching us how to live, then going, through torture, to a cross to pay for our sin, He opened the door to God, Himself. Through Jesus Christ, we are free to come to worship every day! We seek and we find the word from the LORD when we come to hear. We no longer have to wait for the ram’s horn call to worship, to tell Him we love Him and want to serve Him…but there will be a final trumpet sound when He comes again to claim His own! There is so much to think about here in God’s Story!

Dear Heavenly Father…wow, just saying “heavenly Father” makes me tremble. Because Jesus came, we can. We can come to you this morning, just as we are, with a heart, mind and soul ready to hear what You have to say for us for today. Yes, Our Daily Manna from you. Thank You, LORD. I will meditate on this all day long.
In JESUS Name, Amen
