The world tells us over and over and over to “have it your way”. But that is not God’s best for us, for we do not know His best way to go until He tells us. We rebel. But, thank God, we are forgiven.

I have a very young grandson who is going through a stage of opposite thinking and acting. If we say yes, he says no. If we say let’s do this, he says no, let’s do something else. If we say want to come along, he says, no I want to stay. You can’t win. So we walk away…until he changes his mind.

Are we like that with God? And how’s that working for us? To go our own way with only our own thinking? Probably not too well. God is always with us, but he does not interfere until we come back to going His way, losing our rebellious attitudes.

David, King of Judah, “the apple of God’s eye”, tried to go his own rebellious way and learned quickly that it was not going to work. He agonized over going his own way until he returned to God’s ways, His advice, His plan and His forgiveness.

Rebellion can be forgiven…as the sin it is…
“Oh, what joy for those whose rebellion is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of sin, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!” Ps 32, NLT

Rebellion makes us tired and weak…
“When I refused to confess my sin, I was weak and miserable, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat.”

Rebellion cannot be hidden…
“Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. I said to myself, ‘I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.’ And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.”

Rebellion takes us away from God’s protection…
“Therefore, let all the godly confess their rebellion to you while there is time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment. For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory.”

Rebellion laid down puts God back in control. Joy and peace restored…
“The LORD says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Many sorrows come to the wicked but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the LORD. So rejoice in the LORD and be glad, all you who obey him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!” Psalm 32 of David (NLT)

Dear Heavenly Father, We confess our rebellion to you right now. We trust You completely for only You know what is truly best for us. You have waited long enough…I’m Yours. I don’t want it my way any longer. In Jesus Name, Amen
