Another Romans 12 reminder…
When was the last time someone said that to you?
When was the last time you said it to someone else?
“When God’s children are in need, be the one to help them out.” Romans 12:13, NLT
“Laugh with your happy friends; share tears when they’re down.” Romans 12, Msg
Every one of us has some sort of insecurities. These are a result of someone telling us “you can’t” somewhere along life’s journey. Maybe it was even yesterday.
Look at Romans 12 today and see the words “help them out”. Most times we think that is only about the physical…what about the mental and emotional that affects our faith? There are so many of us struggling with not feeling “good enough”. Maybe our best help is to help others by affirming them as God affirmed His love and acceptance to us. We can help each other in the faith! In fact, God’s word tells us to do just that! 1 Corinthians 13:7, “If you love someone, you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him” (LB).
Jesus wants you to believe in others the way he believes in you. Jesus affirmed people around him. When he looked at people, he saw their potential and what God intended them to be. He brought out the best in people not by labeling them but by saying, “I believe you can do it. I know you can do it.”
Wow, just think what that could do for the person sitting beside you at school, at work, at the grocery store, and at home! You might just save a life!
Yes, we need to give of our wealth and provisions to others as needed, but sometimes what others need most is true acceptance and someone who believes in them. That’s the “really love them” way mentioned in Romans 12, NLT.
Dear Heavenly Father, You are amazing and so loving and kind as You teach us Your ways through Your Word. Affirming others is the Word for today. Help us, by Your power to see who needs this most and then give us opportunity to help them out by affirming who they are in You. In Jesus Name, Amen
