God’s Acts

When a plan comes together and the mission is accomplished, wise people look back to see what went right so it can be duplicated and improved upon for the next project. Insightful leaders know that it is not one person who gets the job done. Understanding leaders see that it is usually because of a great team, all doing their assigned parts, working together for the same goal. That’s when big things happen!

Jesus has been the leader of this band of people for three or more years. He specifically nurtured a small group and poured his life into Peter, James and John. He passed on what God had given him to do…seek and to save lost people, building the Kingdom of God in all of us. His trained friends do exactly what He tells them to do. Begin in Jerusalem.

ACTS 1, The Message
Returning to Jerusalem
12-13 So they left the mountain called Olives and returned to Jerusalem. It was a little over half a mile. They went to the upper room they had been using as a meeting place:

James, son of Alphaeus,
Simon the Zealot,
Judas, son of James.

14 They agreed they were in this for good, completely together in prayer, the women included. Also Jesus’ mother, Mary, and his brothers.

Now it is time for God to act in the lives of those who decide and commit to do what Jesus taught them to be and do. They decide they are “in this for good, completely together in prayer, women included. Also Jesus’ mother, Mary, and his brothers.” These last lines leap off the page for me this morning. It tells of the heart of the mission is in the people. “Completely together”, wow!

–They were committed…for good…until Jesus comes back.
–They were together in prayer. The best spot to be when faced with a monumental task that will be impossible without God!
–The gospel is for all, women included, not in the background, but to also be witnesses of Truth.
–Jesus’ whole family is now on board! His brothers were less than enthusiastic before Jesus died and rose again. Now they are believers!

ACTS Jerusalem

Dear Heavenly Father, Is there a church today that is “completely together in prayer”? I pray there is. Help to continually seek Your Kingdom come, Your will be done in our own hearts, minds and souls. We love You, Lord. We are in this for good. Thank you for training ordinary people to do Your extraordinary work so that we might know You today. We are thankful, so grateful for Peter, James and John and the rest of the believers that day. We are grateful for leaders with hearts in tune with Your will today. Lead us, still. In Jesus Name, Amen. I believe.
