Romans–Passionate Christian Theology

How do you eat a huge piece of chocolate cake with lots of delicious chocolate icing slathered over the top of it? One, small, savory bite at a time because of it’s richness. We let it permeate our senses and enjoy it’s comfort. Gobbling it down without enjoying it would be a sin! What a waste of good chocolate, right?

That’s how I look at this next section of Paul’s letter to the Romans, God’s Word to us now. It’s rich, so rich! Let’s take one bite at a time and let it sink in. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to fill us with hope and encouragement, wisdom and peace as we read it slowly. God’s grace is so rich, full, and deep. True freedom from world thinking is found as we throw open all doors that have been shut to Him and breathe in the wide open spaces of God’s grace.

Romans 5, The Message
1-2 By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us—set us right with him, make us fit for him—we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that’s not all: We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand—out in the wide open spaces of God’s grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise.

wide open spaces of grace

Dear Heavenly Father, We pause to praise You this morning for Your grace and the power that enters in as we open all doors of our hearts, minds and souls to You. We enter into this faith, knowing, without doubt, that you have make us fit for You. You have set things right because of Jesus. Thank you, Lord. Blessed is Your Name! Blessed is the One who took away our sin! May Your Kingdom come, Your will be done in every detail of our lives today. In Jesus Name, Amen.
