Thessalonians – Living Forward
“I can’t wait for my best friend to come and be with us!” “Oh, I can’t wait for our family to arrive! We haven’t seen them in so long” Until they get here, I will clean house, making it pleasant for them to enjoy their stay. I will prepare for their coming with excitement and expectancy of good times.
Jesus IS coming back, you know, as believers. That is the rock, the foundation of our faith…that we will see Him again. What do we do in the wait? Are we as excited as receiving a best friend or family member? Are we preparing? Are we in good shape (fit) Spiritually, emotionally, physically, mentally…prayerfully?
In the wait and UNTIL Jesus comes, let us meditate on the next passage Paul, inspired by God, writes to believers…
2 Thessalonians, 1, The Message
11-12 Because we know that this extraordinary day is just ahead, we pray for you all the time—pray that our God will make you fit for what he’s called you to be, pray that he’ll fill your good ideas and acts of faith with his own energy so that it all amounts to something. If your life honors the name of Jesus, he will honor you. Grace is behind and through all of this, our God giving himself freely, the Master, Jesus Christ, giving himself freely.
What do we learn?
–Pray…all the time.
–Pray that God will make us fit for HIS service for HIS glory.
–Pray that God’s energy will be poured into us as we serve. Wow! Can we handle God’s energy in us? Just that is exciting to think about!
–Honor God with all we think, say, and do.
–GRACE is behind and through it all…God giving Himself to us.
What amazing love is this? What a great hope we have!
Dear Heavenly Father, As we work today, let us prayerfully remember this passage all day long. May Your Word become our standard for living with expectancy of Your return! Thank you for the hope you have given us for today. In Jesus Name, Amen
