Taking a Hike Through Hebrews
We are all looking for the source. We look for the source of our heartbreak. We look for the source of our pain, maybe even go to a doctor. The doctor will run lots of tests to find out the source of our ailment and will often say, “well, we know what it is not, so let’s try this…” and so it goes. We look for the source of a bad smell in the house to find out a mouse died in the wall…or worse. We once had a momma skunk give birth to her family under our house!
We look for the source of power when the lights go out and we are in the dark. We look for the source that is causing our vehicle not to run. It seems we spend most our lives and a lot of our resources looking for the source of something and totally miss THE SOURCE that will bring us the most joy and peace. This Source brings an end to our wonderings and searching. THE SOURCE is Jesus, our Savior and Lord. The only “high priest” who is our advocate the God, Himself, because He is God.
Hebrews 5, The Message
7-10 While he lived on earth, anticipating death, Jesus cried out in pain and wept in sorrow as he offered up priestly prayers to God. Because he honored God, God answered him. Though he was God’s Son, he learned trusting-obedience by what he suffered, just as we do. Then, having arrived at the full stature of his maturity and having been announced by God as high priest in the order of Melchizedek, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who believingly obey him.
Reflect and Meditate…
*And there it is…THE SOURCE of eternal salvation and life forever with Him…if only we trust and obey, believing that what He says will be.
*He suffered, died and rose again…all for us.
*May we go about our day with thanksgiving flowing from our hearts for what Jesus did for us.
*We are loved.
Dear Heavenly Father, You are THE SOURCE of life itself. Your are THE SOURCE of Light in the darkness. Thank you for salvation. Thank you for eternal life with you. Thank you for coming to suffer for us. Thank you for the promise of coming back again. Thank for Your Holy Presence in our lives. We believe. In Jesus Name, Amen
