Psalms of Honesty and Truth
A few years ago I was placed in a long term sub teacher position in an art class. Because of the emergency situation with the teacher, there were little to no lesson plans. It was October in Indiana, one of the most beautiful times of year. We took our blank pads with sketch pencils and walked every rotating class (six classes every day) out the door to really take a long look at nature (what God gave us to enjoy). “Look at only a small part, a section, of this scene around the pond,” I said. “Study it, enjoy it like a good book, look at every detail of a fallen leaf, that log laying or part of the bridge.” Then draw your favorite part.
We did this for a month, until all the classes in the school got to be a part of this excursion of seeing creation and trying to get it down on paper. God blessed us with pretty days and interested students. Who wouldn’t be interested? I took them outside! The final product was to apply color using only colored pencils. I was amazed at their work! The Creator applies color to our world daily. Maybe it’s time we stop and take a closer look, be blessed then look up and praise the Creator! David noticed and shouted praise!
Psalm 65, The Message
A David Psalm
1-2 Silence is praise to you,
And also obedience.
You hear the prayer in it all.
2-8 We all arrive at your doorstep sooner
or later, loaded with guilt,
Our sins too much for us—
but you get rid of them once and for all.
Blessed are the chosen! Blessed the guest
at home in your place!
We expect our fill of good things
in your house, your heavenly manse.
All your salvation wonders
are on display in your trophy room.
Muzzler of sea storm and wave crash,
of mobs in noisy riot—
Far and wide they’ll come to a stop,
they’ll stare in awe, in wonder.
Dawn and dusk take turns
calling, “Come and worship.”
9-13 Oh, visit the earth,
ask her to join the dance!
Deck her out in spring showers,
fill the God-River with living water.
Paint the wheat fields golden.
Creation was made for this!
Drench the plowed fields,
soak the dirt clods
With rainfall as harrow and rake
bring her to blossom and fruit.
Snow-crown the peaks with splendor,
scatter rose petals down your paths,
All through the wild meadows, rose petals.
Set the hills to dancing,
Dress the canyon walls with live sheep,
a drape of flax across the valleys.
Let them shout, and shout, and shout!
Oh, oh, let them sing!
Step outside, see His wonders in detail and come and worship! We are a redeemed people living in a beautiful place provided and marvelously painted by our Creator! Let us all come and worship! Right now, right where you are, no matter what you are doing! Come and worship!
In Jesus Name, Amen. I believe!
