Psalms for the Journey

When you know a person well, like your spouse for over 40 years or so, you begin to finish each other’s sentences. Your love is expressed more in small actions and in the little details of life. You set aside what you want and begin to merge with what the two of you want together. You know their thoughts and what they really need. But that does not even touch the surface of what God knows!

He knows us from the inside out and loves us perfectly without conditions or hesitations. He continues to form us and work with us because none of us are perfect. He is sovereign. He knows when we will mess up. He knows how to take that mess up and teach us. He knows how to knock off those rough edges. Yes, He knows we are still being formed “in His likeness” with higher thoughts and nobler, unselfish actions…if we let Him. (And HE knows when and if we will let Him!)

Psalm 139, The Message (Part 3)
13-16 Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I’d even lived one day.

Imagine the days of our lives all prepared before our first breath from the womb. Take all the time you need to consider how great God is and that HE is in control, still forming us to be all He intended for us to be and then do. But most of all, He knows. He loves us still.

Dear Lord, Thank you.
In Jesus Name, Amen. I believe.
