THE ONE AND ONLY!

Psalms – Prayers of Honesty

Psalm 62 rock of my salvation
It must be refreshing and pleasing to God when we stop in the middle of life, no matter what is going on and just be still before Him. God’s Word tells us He is! Oh, how it must make God smile when our minds truly focus on Him with humbled hearts bursting with pure love for Him. Pure unconditional love is how He loves us. His love is not held back, reserved, or discriminate…The One and Only God just loves every person he has created. Oh what pleasure God takes when we empty our very souls of all that stands between God and ourselves, ready and willing to be filled with all of Him. This is God, the One and Only. HE is God and we are not.

Psalm 62 love in stoneDavid stops to wait and be still before God. He waits as long as it takes for David to realize all that God is. David realizes that his obedience in waiting leads to his assurance that he is standing in the right place, on solid ground, the rock that does not shift and move with circumstances around him.

Read these words carefully with a grateful heart seeking the love of God and a mind focused on God ready to be filled with God. This prayer is all about God and raised to God, the One and Only.

May our lives be all about God, too. May we, with the help of God’s Holy Spirit in us, think, talk and walk in ways that reflect His glory while giving honor to the very Name of the Only and Only. May our lives be a beacon of Light for others to find and follow our God through Jesus Christ, His Son. May HIS Light reflected from us point the way…

Psalm 62, The Message
A David Psalm

Psalm 62 honor1-2 God, the one and only—
I’ll wait as long as he says.
Everything I need comes from him,
so why not?
He’s solid rock under my feet,
breathing room for my soul,
An impregnable castle:
I’m set for life.

3-4 How long will you gang up on me?
How long will you run with the bullies?
There’s nothing to you, any of you—
rotten floorboards, worm-eaten rafters,
Anthills plotting to bring down mountains,
far gone in make-believe.
You talk a good line,
but every “blessing” breathes a curse.

Psalm 62 5 wait5-6 God, the one and only—
I’ll wait as long as he says.
Everything I hope for comes from him,
so why not?
He’s solid rock under my feet,
breathing room for my soul,
An impregnable castle:
I’m set for life.

7-8 My help and glory are in God
—granite-strength and safe-harbor-God—
So trust him absolutely, people;
lay your lives on the line for him.
God is a safe place to be.

9 Man as such is smoke,
woman as such, a mirage.
Put them together, they’re nothing;
two times nothing is nothing.

10 And a windfall, if it comes—
don’t make too much of it.

Psalm 62 1111 God said this once and for all;
how many times
Have I heard it repeated?
“Strength comes
Straight from God.”

12 Love to you, Lord God!
You pay a fair wage for a good day’s work!

And I’m singing….Join me in worship to the One and Only God of Creation, God of our very souls, Our Protector, Healer and most of all, our Salvation!

“Here Again”

Can’t go back to the beginning
Can’t control what tomorrow will bring
But I know here in the middle
Is the place where you promise to be

I’m not enough unless you come
Will you meet me here again
Cause all I want is all you are
Will you meet me here again

Psalm 62 rockAs I walk now through the valley
Let your love rise above every fear
Like the sun shaping the shadow
In my weakness your glory appears

I’m not enough unless you come
Will you meet me here again
Cause all I want is all you are
Will you meet me here again

Not for a minute
Was I forsaken
The Lord is in this place
The Lord is in this place

Come Holy Spirit
Dry bones awaken
The Lord is in this place
The Lord is in this place

Psalm 62 safe placeIn Jesus Name, we continue to pray and listen…
Amen

May God be your strength, comfort, peace and joy today!
