NOT FOR A MINUTE!

Psalms – Prayers of Honesty and Praise

psalm 119 not for a minute
I’m not enough unless you come
Will you meet me here again
‘Cause all I want is all you are
Will you meet me here again

Not for a minute
Was I forsaken
The Lord is in this place
The Lord is in this place….
(Songwriters: Chris Brown / Steven Furtick / AMY MOODY CORBETT)

In the quiet of this hour, I hear this song, Here Again, playing in the background of my mind as we read the next portion of Psalm 119. The writer, like me, is asking for God’s help to see clearly, to realize that miracles are of God’s doing, and to understand which road he must follow. He is coming to God with an empty soul who knows he will be filled by God’s Presence, God’s direction and help. The writer knows that not for a minute will God turn away from a seeking soul.

So, “not for a minute,” will this seeking soul takes his eyes off the road where his God is commanding him to go. Others may or may not follow, but not for minute will he turn back now. Others may mock him and try to stop his progress in knowing God, learning His ways and walking this road, but not for a minute will he forsake the God who did not forsake him.

Psalm 119, The Message
Part Three

psalm 119 open my eyes
17-24 Be generous with me and I’ll live a full life;
not for a minute will I take my eyes off your road.
Open my eyes so I can see
what you show me of your miracle-wonders.
I’m a stranger in these parts;
give me clear directions.
My soul is starved and hungry, ravenous!—
insatiable for your nourishing commands.
psalm 119 bibleAnd those who think they know so much,
ignoring everything you tell them—let them have it!
Don’t let them mock and humiliate me;
I’ve been careful to do just what you said.
While bad neighbors maliciously gossip about me,
I’m absorbed in pondering your wise counsel.
Yes, your sayings on life are what give me delight;
I listen to them as to good neighbors!

HEART CHECK:

psalm 119 jesus
Is your soul starved, hungry for God, ravenous for His wisdom with an insatiable appetite for His Holy Presence in your life? What can you do about it?

Can’t go back to the beginning
Can’t control what tomorrow will bring
But I know here in the middle
Is the place where you promise to be

I’m not enough unless you come
Will you meet me here again
‘Cause all I want is all you are
Will you meet me here again

psalm-119-24.jpgAs believers, we ARE strangers in a world where many live their lives with only a view of self, self protection, self gratification, selfishness, wanting to do life all by themselves. Do you feel like a stranger at times? Or have you given in this way of thinking?

As I walk now through the valley
Let your love rise above every fear
Like the sun shaping the shadow
In my weakness your glory appears

I’m not enough unless you come
Will you meet me here again
‘Cause all I want is all you are
Will you meet me here again

Like you reading this, I want all God, who has our best interest in His heart, has for each one of us. Our best prayer is to let go of self will and ask God what HE wants for us. With God, we are plenty, we are enough.

Not for a minute
Was I forsaken
The Lord is in this place
The Lord is in this place

Come Holy Spirit
Dry bones awaken
The Lord is in this place
The Lord is in this place

I’m not enough unless you come
Will you meet me here again
‘Cause all I want is all you are
Will you meet me here again

psalm 119 delightDear Heavenly Father,
You are God and we are not. Open my eyes. Fill my emptied soul of all of You. Teach me to do Your will. I’m listening with delight and expectancy. I know you will not forsake my request for Your Holy Presence in my life. Thank you, Lord. May the Holy Spirit guide our every thought and action today. Not for a minute will I turn away. Will you meet us here again? All I want is all you are.
In Jesus Name, Amen
I delight myself in You
In the Glory of Your Presence
I’m overwhelmed, I’m overwhelmed by You…
