Psalms – Prayers of Honesty and Praise
I am truly saved by the outrageous, unconditional, reckless love of God. Without knowing the love of God I would not know who I am, what purpose I have on earth, who to turn to in time of crisis and Who to praise when problems are solved and relationships are restored. God’s love shapes my very being and doing. I love God because He loved me first and taught me how to love.
Our next passage speaks for itself…read, meditate on these words, listen for God speaking to you and be blessed.
Psalm 119, The Message
Part Six
psalm 119 41
41-48 Let your love, God, shape my life
with salvation, exactly as you promised;
Then I’ll be able to stand up to mockery
because I trusted your Word.
Don’t ever deprive me of truth, not ever—
your commandments are what I depend on.
Oh, I’ll guard with my life what you’ve revealed to me,
guard it now, guard it ever;
psalm 119 48And I’ll stride freely through wide open spaces
as I look for your truth and your wisdom;
Then I’ll tell the world what I find,
speak out boldly in public, unembarrassed.
I cherish your commandments—oh, how I love them!—
relishing every fragment of your counsel.
I am reminded of a pop song, I Want To Know What Love is by Michael Leslie Jones who is seeking true, sincere love.
psalm-119-love.pngI gotta take a little time, a little time to think things over
I better read between the lines, in case I need it when I’m older
Now this mountain I must climb, feels like the world upon my shoulders
Through the clouds I see love shine, it keeps me warm as life grows colder
In my life there’s been heartache and pain
I don’t know if I can face it again
Can’t stop now, I’ve traveled so far, to change this lonely life
I want to know what love is, I want you to show me
I want to feel what love is, I know you can show me
The song ends with;
“Show me love is real, yeah, I want to know what love is”
psalm 119 love like jesus
The world is seeking a love that cannot be fulfilled in a casual, sexual encounter. The love that fulfills every need in wanting to be loved and accepted can only be found in accepting the Savior who freely gives us salvation, guidance, help in troubles, along with a forever intimacy that shapes our being and transforms us to all He intended for us to be. THAT’S what Love is. The more we realize the measure of God’s love for us, the more deeply we begin to love each other.
Isn’t it time we shared this information about a love that shapes our very lives, saving our souls, creating an intimacy with the One and Only who created us?
The Psalmist’s song ends with…I’ll tell the world what I find, speak out boldly in public, unembarrassed. This is what love is!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for teaching us what true, unconditional love is. Thank you for loving us first. Thank you for saving us from all our sin and self. Thank you for loving us when we didn’t love you yet. Thank you for going to a cross to save us while were yet sinners…not knowing there was a Way out and back to You. Continue to shape my life by your love and salvation so that I can love others like you love me. I love You, Lord with all that is in me.
In Jesus Name, Amen
