Psalms – Prayers of Honesty and Praise
Psalm 119, The Message
Part 13
97-104
Oh, how I love all you’ve revealed; I reverently ponder it all the day long.
Your commands give me an edge on my enemies;
they never become obsolete.
I’ve even become smarter than my teachers
since I’ve pondered and absorbed your counsel.
I’ve become wiser than the wise old sages
simply by doing what you tell me.
I watch my step, avoiding the ditches and ruts of evil
so I can spend all my time keeping your Word.
I never make detours from the route you laid out;
you gave me such good directions.
Your words are so choice, so tasty;
I prefer them to the best home cooking.
With your instruction, I understand life;
that’s why I hate false propaganda.
FROM THE HEART…
As you can see and read each morning, I too, like the writers of the Psalms, love God’s Word. This love of God’s Word began with growing, intimate love for God through Jesus Christ, His Son. Jesus, who came down from the Heavenly throne, BECAME the Word of God who walked the earth and taught humans Who God is and What God intended in His Word. His mission was to seek and to save lost people. Jesus died for all of us lost people on a cross as THE sacrifice for our sin. Jesus then with the power to defeat death and rise again reconciled us to God in that last act of obedience on this earth to our Father in Heaven.
You see, there isn’t a separation. If we truly love God, we love what He says…even if it hurts for awhile as we are disciplined to real Life by His Word. To live God’s Word is the better life. This new Life is not easy but worth it. It is a life that gives value and meaning, mission and purpose for each of us. And it begins by accepting the fact that God loves us so much that He sent His Son to redeem us from all sin and self. When we accept His love for us by loving God back and living His Word, Life begins and will not end.
God, Your Word is my home.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for guiding us through Your Word by Your love, mercy and grace each day. Thank you for our daily manna of Your Word to us. Continue the lessons and be gentle with this stubborn soul. I love you, Lord with all my heart, mind and soul.
In Jesus Name, Amen. I believe.
