AT THE FOOT OF THE MOUNTAIN

Matthew – God’s Purposes

Matthew 17 coming down
In this world, there will always be something to do to help. There will always be someone who needs what you can give. Those who stand by and only judge will never understand. Those who understand will never judge but will act on the promptings of the Holy Spirit to help, to encourage, to give at just the right time and place when it is most needed…in Jesus Name.

Peter, James and John were invited to see Jesus in all His glory on a mountain top. What an experience that must of been. But instead of staying there to build monuments, hold prayer meetings, or keep standing in awe of the glory, Jesus led them back down the mountain. “At the foot of the mountain, a large crowd was waiting for them.”

Matthew 17 trench workIsn’t that how it is? When we ask God to break our hearts of things that break His, He does. Then He teaches us how to help each other. There are mountain top experiences in our lives when we see Jesus in all His glory reveal Himself to us in special ways. Then there is the real work, God’s work, that He invites and leads us to…at the foot of the mountain…where the people are waiting…people who need help to find and follow Jesus Christ.

Lord, have mercy on us if we do not follow where You lead. Have mercy on us if we do not help. Have mercy on us with little faith in You. Grow our faith. Grow your work in us from the inside out.

I see you move, you move the mountains
And I believe…

Matthew 17, NLT
Jesus Heals a Demon-Possessed Boy

matthew-17-faith.jpg14 At the foot of the mountain, a large crowd was waiting for them. A man came and knelt before Jesus and said, 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son. He has seizures and suffers terribly. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16 So I brought him to your disciples, but they couldn’t heal him.”

17 Jesus said, “You faithless and corrupt people! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” 18 Then Jesus rebuked the demon in the boy, and it left him. From that moment the boy was well.

19 Afterward the disciples asked Jesus privately, “Why couldn’t we cast out that demon?”

20 “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”

And I’m singing…DO IT AGAIN, Elevation Worship

Walking around these walls
I thought by now they’d fall
But You have never failed me yet
Waiting for change to come
Knowing the battle’s won
For You have never failed me yet

Your promise still stands
Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness
I’m still in Your hands
This is my confidence, You’ve never failed me yet

I know the night won’t last
Your Word will come to pass
My heart will sing Your praise again
Jesus, You’re still enough
Keep me within Your love
My heart will sing Your praise again

Your promise still stands
Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness
I’m still in Your hands
This is my confidence, You never failed

I’ve seen You move, come move the mountains
And I believe, I’ll see You do it again
You made a way, where there was no way
And I believe, I’ll see You do it again
