Luke – Doors Wide Open
Jesus was sent from God the Father to seek and to save the lost. The lost were without hope until He came. The lost were sick until the Great Physician healed all who came to Him. The lost were demon possessed until the One over all had the power to destroy their work and send them packing. The lost were poor and needy and He showed compassion on them. A few of the lost were rich and religious. Some believed. Some did not.
Where do we stand? Are we lost? Have you been found?
Luke 4, NLT
Jesus Heals Many People
38 After leaving the synagogue that day, Jesus went to Simon’s home, where he found Simon’s mother-in-law very sick with a high fever. “Please heal her,” everyone begged. 39 Standing at her bedside, he rebuked the fever, and it left her. And she got up at once and prepared a meal for them.
40 As the sun went down that evening, people throughout the village brought sick family members to Jesus. No matter what their diseases were, the touch of his hand healed every one. 41 Many were possessed by demons; and the demons came out at his command, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But because they knew he was the Messiah, he rebuked them and refused to let them speak.
Jesus Continues to Preach
42 Early the next morning Jesus went out to an isolated place. The crowds searched everywhere for him, and when they finally found him, they begged him not to leave them. 43 But he replied, “I must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other towns, too, because that is why I was sent.” 44 So he continued to travel around, preaching in synagogues throughout Judea.
PRAYER DRIVES JESUS
The Lord must have been weary after such a demanding day, and yet He was up early the next morning to pray (Mark 1:35). It was in prayer that He found His strength and power for service, and so must we.
Why do we serve God? We can only stay focused on the “why” of our God ordained purpose in this life if we do what Jesus did and ask the Father daily:
—What is Your will?
–What do YOU want and where do YOU want me to go?
–What do you want me to say?
–What and how do you want me to do what you have asked?
Then pray for power “in Jesus Name”.
Prayer, communication with the Father, kept Jesus in focus on seeking the lost and telling them how to be found.
This is now our mission.
In Jesus Name.
