JOB DESCRIPTION OF A DISCIPLE/APOSTLE

Luke – Doors Wide Open!

Luke 9 sent out by Jesus
When you say yes to a new job, most likely the organization enticed you in the interview with a detailed description of your responsibilities and your pay package. You would be a fool to go to work not knowing what you are going to be doing or what your compensation would be in doing it. Or would you?

Luke 9 calling
When Randy and I left teaching to go into full time ministry we learned quickly that our yes was to God first, not the organization and what they would provide. We would have no real “job description” or compensation package that would lead to our “call” of following Jesus in His work. We did not feel equipped but we had faith that God would provide all we needed for where He took us on the journey. We still believe in God. Where He guides, He provides. Reckless? In the eyes of the world, yes. Faithful without question? In the eyes of God? Absolutely! This has always worked for us.

Luke 9 23Simple faith in the Creator of all, Who is in all and controls all is what living the life of a believer is all about. Jesus sends out his disciples to be an extension of Himself. He has invited them to follow Him in His mission to seek and to save the lost, to heal and restore in His Name and by His power, to show mercy and walk humble with Him. He still invites us today to do much the same.

Here is the job description if you need one before you will follow in faith…if not, humble bow and listen for God’s invite, then obey quickly. There will be no regrets, I assure You. God assures you even more.

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Disciples

One day Jesus called together his twelve disciples and gave them power and authority to cast out all demons and to heal all diseases. 2 Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. 3 “Take nothing for your journey,” he instructed them. “Don’t take a walking stick, a traveler’s bag, food, money, or even a change of clothes. 4 Wherever you go, stay in the same house until you leave town. 5 And if a town refuses to welcome you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate.”

6 So they began their circuit of the villages, preaching the Good News and healing the sick.

“SO THEY BEGAN”…

Are you ready to go when He calls?

Are you prepared? All you need is a faithful willing heart that wants what God wants….all of you.

Luke 9 yes Lord
And so we begin…

Dear Heavenly Father, Lord and Savior,
You sent. The Twelve sent out in your power to tell everyone about You and to restore life abundant living. Show us where you want us to go and what you want us to do for today.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
