Luke – Wide Open Doors!

Did you ever have the answer to a question no one else knew? How did it make you feel? It is always a good feeling inside to know something that escapes the thoughts of those who think they know everything. It’s a joy to be able to stump arrogant peers with a solution in a project that didn’t occur to them. This is human.
However, it is especially gratifying when you are humbling walking the path God wants you to take, see and hear His truth readily, while trying to help others find and follow Him.

Guess what?! God takes pleasure in allowing those who “do what is right, love mercy, and walk humbly with God” to see His truth AND to understand the implications of His Truth so that they may live according to His Word in ways that please Him! To “see and hear” shines His Light brightly, reflecting on our faces, so others in the dark can see, too!
God knows His Son and His Son knows Him because they are connected to each other in ways beyond our human relationships and understanding. There is a powerful third part of this relationship equation which is the Holy Spirit. Three-in-one. God, The Father, Jesus, His Son and His Holy Spirit.

Luke 10, New Living Translation
Jesus’ Prayer of Thanksgiving
21 At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.

23 Then when they were alone, he turned to the disciples and said, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you have seen. 24 I tell you, many prophets and kings longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.”
WHAT DO WE LEARN?

Our highest joy is not found in service or even in our salvation, but in being submitted to the sovereign will of the heavenly Father, for this is the foundation for both service and salvation. Here we see God the Son rejoicing through God the Holy Spirit because of the will of God the Father!
“I delight to do thy will, O my God” (Ps. 40:8).
Jesus was not rejoicing because sinners were blind to God’s truth, for God is “not willing that any should perish” (2 Peter 3:9). He rejoiced because the understanding of that truth did not depend on natural abilities or education. If that were the case, most of the people in the world would be shut out of the kingdom.
When the Twelve and the Seventy were preaching, they did not see the “wise and learned” humbling themselves to receive God’s truth and grace, but they saw the “common people” trusting the Word. In His sovereign will, God has ordained that sinners must humble themselves before they can be lifted up (James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:6).
HOLY PAUSE…

How well is your vision and hearing of His will?
What do we need to do to hear and see better?
Are we willing to trust and submit to His will?
Dear Heavenly Father,
I repent of going my own way, trying to solve my own problems, large and small, without consulting You. I humbly bow before you, clearing my mind of what I think and asking for what you want and what please You. Joy will be restored when I listen, really listen and see what you see. Your joy is our strength.
In Jesus Name, Amen
And I’m singing…Thy Will (by Hillary Scott)
I’m so confused
I know I heard you loud and clear
So, I followed through
Somehow I ended up here
I don’t wanna think
I may never understand
That my broken heart is a part of your plan
When I try to pray
All I’ve got is hurt and these four words
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
I know you’re good
But this don’t feel good right now
And I know you think
Of things I could never think about
It’s hard to count it all joy
Distracted by the noise
Just trying to make sense
Of all your promises
Sometimes I gotta stop
Remember that you’re God
And I am not
So
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Like a child on my knees all that comes to me is
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will
I know you see me
I know you hear me, Lord
I know you see me
I know you hear me, Lord
Your plans are for me
Goodness you have in store
I know you hear me
I know you see me, Lord
Your plans are for me
Good news you have in store
So, thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Like a child on my knees all that comes to me is
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done…
