Genesis – First, God

Then He said to Jesus, His Son, “Let’s make humans…” I say this because God uses the pronoun “us” which reminds us that Jesus was there with Him from the beginning. The gospel of John reminds us of this truth:

So God, with His Son, created humans, in their image, reflecting their nature. Wow. Let that sink in before moving on.

Genesis 1
26-28
God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.”

he created them godlike,
Reflecting God’s nature.
He created them male and female.
God blessed them:
“Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!
Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,
for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.”

29-30 Then God said, “I’ve given you
every sort of seed-bearing plant on Earth
And every kind of fruit-bearing tree,
given them to you for food.
To all animals and all birds,
everything that moves and breathes,
I give whatever grows out of the ground for food.”
And there it was.
31 God looked over everything he had made;
it was so good, so very good!
It was evening, it was morning—
Day Six.

HOLY PAUSE…
God gave His created “like Him” humans a mission from the beginning. Look at the verbal, demonstrative commands: “Prosper, Reproduce, Fill, Take Charge…Be responsible…”
Then God said, “I’ve given you…” Every living thing had something to eat to live and thrive in this perfect place.
“And there it was.”
“It was so good, so very good!”

But God had a plan for that, too. Fortunately He is God and we are not. Jesus, His Son, at the “beginning”, was that plan to save the humans God created.
God, through Jesus, is still saving humans. He saved me.
Thank you, God, our Father, for your created plan of salvation.
In Jesus Name, Amen
