“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

What does this mean concerning His love that lasts?

• The Incarnation: God became a human being in the person of Jesus Christ.
• The Word: The Gospel of John calls Jesus the “Word” who existed with God from the beginning of time.
• Dwelt Among Us: The original Greek word means to pitch a tent or live in a tabernacle, showing God making His home among people.
• God came to earth in human form to seek and to save the lost and to show the depths of His love!  He was to be called Jesus, Son of Man/Son of God who would take away the all the sins of the believing world.  While on earth, God demonstrated HIS LOVE. “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 

What kind of Love is this?  Nothing the world had ever known!

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17

All God did was driven by His great, powerful, never changing, unconditional, ever lasting perfect love for all He created in His own image.  What a gift to all who decide to receive the gift of Love that saved us and set us free to love Him back in awe of the Giver who gave us life for all eternity.  What a gift that is to be taken in and preserved as a way of life!  Yes,the greatest of all gifts from God is His Love for us—God’s love to have and to hold deep inside, internally, as a part of who we are!  What do we do with this Love? God answers, “Love each other like I have loved you.”

Warren Wiersbe comments;

“We do not go to the Bible to escape the realities of life but to be strengthened to face life and serve God effectively. We may not be able to delight in what is going on in the world, but we can delight in what God says in His Word. The Word equips us to deal with the changes of life and the crises that come. The verb translated “sought” in verse 94 means “to consult, to inquire, to beat a path, to read repeatedly.” Here is a believer who beat a path to the Bible, read it over and over, studied it, and when he had to make a decision, consulted the Word carefully. Philosophies change, political expedients fail, promises and contracts are broken, but the Word of God still stands.”—Wiersbe Study Bible

Everything about God, created by God, was built to stand!  His love for us is permanent for there is nothing that deletes His love from our being.  We can refuse His love, believe that His love exists; but God is Love and His love is forever for His love never fails.

WHAT DO WE LEARN—HOW DO WE RESPOND?

Love God. Love Others.  All the commandments of God, HIS best for our good, were created because of His Love for us.  His ways and His love are perfect!  His love is what we strive to obtain and share with others who do not know Love who is God. (1 John 4:7-8)

AND… Nothing Can Separate Us from God’s Love!

“What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” –Apostle Paul to the church then and now, Romans 8:31-39

Lord God of the All,

Thank you for your love for me. Thank you for teaching me who Love is with how to love like you love me.  I give you my life as an offering given in love.  Use me as an instrument of your love to others today and always.
