THE REVELATION OF TRUTH

“Do what is right”, “Follow your heart,” my peers of the world would say.  But my believing parents and grandparents followed the heart of God, so their advice along with many other Godly mentors in my life became the revelation of truth for me: “Do what is right in God’s view of living life with Him. Seek God first before doing anything of significance in His Name.  Be still, let go of all that you think you know, and listen to God alone in a quiet place.  God knows all, created all and is in all.  God knows all hearts.  It is God’s Holy Spirit who will guide, then provide all we need to do what He says for our good, for the salvation of others, and in ways that give Him glory.”  God never fails.  God’s love for us never changes.

“You have heard it said, but I say to you”, teaches Jesus, the Word made flesh, to all hearts…

“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?”  —Jeremiah 17:9

“It’s what comes out of a person that pollutes: obscenities, lusts, thefts, murders, adulteries, greed, depravity, deceptive dealings, carousing, mean looks, slander, arrogance, foolishness—all these are vomit from the heart. There is the source of your pollution.” –Jesus, after revealing the Pharisee’s hearts who were far from God’s heart and will.  (Read Mark 7 for the full story of the heart.)

“Guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life” …Proverbs 4:23

These are the two choices of the heart we are given each day as we live our lives on earth.  Do I choose what the world says and follow my own heart or do I wholly lean into God and His ways that are always right?

The choice was and is clear to me; but then again, I sometimes fall to the choice of self and must ask for forgiveness. I am grateful for our forgiving Savior and Lord.  We are not perfect; but we are perfectly forgiven.  I’ve learned choosing self only leads us farther into the darkness and confusion. I’ve seen it with my own eyes!  Seeking God first, asking for His forgiveness through Jesus, is an instant, beautiful revelation of truth that miraculously opens our hearts to be renewed and restored by His love, mercy and grace.  When we ask for help, we are given resurrection power to overcome wrong.  When we ask for wisdom, God gives His wisdom freely in great quantities!  So, when you make the wrong choice as I have done, and it will happen, “for all have sinned and fall short” of God’s best; I pray that all who read this will pause to repent, ask for His wisdom, be still before Him, trust Him with all your life, then lean not on your own understanding of life, but join me to fully trust in the One who gave us Life Eternal.

Psalm 119:137-144, The Message

R is for Right, Rightly, and Righteous

You are right and you do right, God;
    your decisions are right on target.
You rightly instruct us in how to live
    ever faithful to you.
My rivals nearly did me in,
    they persistently ignored your commandments.
Your promise has been tested through and through,
    and I, your servant, love it dearly.
I’m too young to be important,
    but I don’t forget what you tell me.

Your righteousness is eternally right,
    your revelation is the only truth.
Even though troubles came down on me hard,
    your commands always gave me delight.
The way you tell me to live is always right;
    help me understand it so I can live to the fullest.

WHAT DO WE LEARN—HOW DO WE RESPOND?

God is always right for He is Perfect in all His ways.

Surrender to His revelation of truth daily!

Troubles will come in our imperfect, sin filled world; but God reveals Truth who is Jesus and stands with us to overcome the world of deceptions and confusion.

Be a learner of Truth who lives Truth so others will know Truth.  God’s Holy Spirit gives us power, wisdom, and might to do what God says while guiding us to all that is Truth.

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”—Jesus, John 14:6

Life begins and ends with Jesus who is Truth.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8

Lord,

Cleanse our hearts, remove all that is not you. Renew our minds, transform our thinking and doing. Refresh our souls with your new and fresh daily mercies. Restore the joy of your salvation at work within us.  Thank you, thank you, thank you for the revelation of Truth—You in us and us in You.  I’m yours. I’m listening. You are right.  You are always and forever right!

In Jesus Name, Amen

“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” Psalm 143:10
