HEART READY, TRUSTING IN GOD!

Psalms of Honesty and Truth

The Christmas sermons speak of it, songs of The Birth of our Savior get close to it, but the kindness and graciousness of others shows it. What is “it”? It is a heart that is ready for Christ to come any day now and take us home to be with Him forever. This heart-ready attitude doesn’t wait for a season but lives it daily. “It” is the mind of someone who trusts in God completely and it shows in their generous, habitual actions, without holding anything back. “It” is being unfazed by slander and the gossip of others, continuing to live life focused on the blessings of God. Heart-ready people “fear not”. I love how it is said by Eugene Peterson as he paraphrases Psalm 112. Read, be blessed, heart ready, trusting in the One and Only. Hallelujah!

Psalm 112, The Message
1-10 Hallelujah!
Blessed man, blessed woman, who fear God,
Who cherish and relish his commandments,
Their children robust on the earth,
And the homes of the upright—how blessed!
Their houses brim with wealth
And a generosity that never runs dry.

Sunrise breaks through the darkness for good people—
God’s grace and mercy and justice!
The good person is generous and lends lavishly;
No shuffling or stumbling around for this one,
But a sterling and solid and lasting reputation.

Unfazed by rumor and gossip,
Heart ready, trusting in God,
Spirit firm, unperturbed,

Ever blessed, relaxed among enemies,
They lavish gifts on the poor—
A generosity that goes on, and on, and on.
An honored life! A beautiful life!

Someone wicked takes one look and rages,
Blusters away but ends up speechless.
There’s nothing to the dreams of the wicked. Nothing.

Yes, blessed is the man and woman who gets “it”…and lives it.
In Jesus Name, Amen. I believe.
