Psalms – Prayers of Honesty and Praise
Psalm 93, The Message

1-2 God is King, robed and ruling,
God is robed and surging with strength.
And yes, the world is firm, immovable,
Your throne ever firm—you’re Eternal!
3-4 Sea storms are up, God,
Sea storms wild and roaring,
Sea storms with thunderous breakers.
Stronger than wild sea storms,
Mightier than sea-storm breakers,
Mighty God rules from High Heaven.

“Beauty” and “Holy” mark your palace rule,
God, to the very end of time.
GOING DEEPER…
Psalm 93 was perhaps written by one of the Levites who returned to Judah with the Jewish remnant after the Babylonian captivity. The leaders and the people needed encouragement to continue the work, and this encouragement could come only from the Lord. This brief hymn of praise magnifies the Lord by presenting three divine assurances.

2. God Is Greater Than Our Circumstances (vv. 3-4). No matter what storms of egos, selfishness, deflated and fractured relationships, unwilling reconciliations, in a sinful world are raging all around us, God is there. He is on His Throne. He is the One and Only Judge. God has, is and always will be God. God is the great I AM. He never changes. No matter what is happening around us–God is there. God is our rock on a firm foundation. God is our Light as we follow Him through this dark world.

You Say
(Songwriters: Paul Mabury / Lauren Ashley Daigle / Jason Ingram)
I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I’m not enough
Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up
Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low?
Remind me once again just who I am, because I need to know

You say I am strong when I think I am weak
You say I am held when I am falling short
When I don’t belong, oh You say that I am Yours
And I believe (I), oh I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
I believe
The only thing that matters now is everything You think of me
In You I find my worth, in You I find my identity,
You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And You say I am held when I am falling short
When I don’t belong, oh You say that I am Yours
And I believe (I), oh I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
Oh, I believe
Taking all I have and now I’m laying it at Your feet
You have every failure God, and You’ll have every victory,
You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
You say I am held when I am falling short
When I don’t belong, oh You say that I am Yours
And I believe (I), oh I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
I believe….

How are nations like raging seas and pounding waves? Do we wonder if peace will ever come?
Where do you find stability in chaotic times? Who is our peace? Are we only peaceful when trouble ceases?
What practical benefits do we see in the fact that our Father is firm in what His Word says, immovable, unchangeable in His love and eternal?
Why is it important to think of God as mighty and majestic, and not just as our Friend?
When life seems to fall apart who do you call first? Who is your “go to” in times of trouble, stress, and anxiety? Who do you go or where do you go to find peace, unconditional love and assurance that you are loved?
If it is God…Thank Him.

Dear Heavenly Father,
The writers of Your Word praise You, tell us more about You and then assure us of Your eternal unconditional love for us. You know us. You know our hearts. You know our circumstances. You love us still. Yes, You are God, majestic and powerful and at the same time merciful, loving, kind, full of grace and everlasting peace. Thank you for saving us from ourselves by sending Your Son, Jesus, to show us Who You are and how You love. Help us to love like that. Yes, I believe.
In Jesus Name, Amen
