Psalms – Prayers of Honesty and Praise

I can’t get no satisfaction, I can’t get no satisfaction
‘Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can’t get no, I can’t get no
When I’m drivin’ in my car, and the man come on the radio
He’s tellin’ me more and more about some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination
I can’t get no, oh, no, no, no, hey, hey, hey
That’s what I say
I can’t get no satisfaction, I can’t get no satisfaction
‘Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can’t get no, I can’t get no
When I’m ridin’ ’round the world
And I’m doin’ this and I’m signin’ that
And I’m tryin’ to make some girl, who tells me
Baby, better come back maybe next week
Can’t you see I’m on a losing streak?
I can’t get no, oh, no, no, no, hey, hey, hey
That’s what I say, I can’t get no, I can’t get no
I can’t get no satisfaction, no satisfaction
No satisfaction, no satisfaction
I can’t get no
(Songwriters: Keith Richards / Mick Jagger)

Many wonder around not knowing what the song is to be, seeking a satisfied life, but looking in all the wrong places. (Okay, so a flood of songs just mashed up in my mind!)
But those of us who have turned down what the world offers with “free incentives” that bond us to self and selfishness for life have found a better way…God’s way. God’s love, mercy and grace gave us salvation from death. God’s road leads to a life that SATISFIES every part of our being. (Someone let Mick Jagger know, please!)
Psalm 119, The Message
Part 8

to do everything you say.
I beg you from the bottom of my heart: smile,
be gracious to me just as you promised.
When I took a long, careful look at your ways,
I got my feet back on the trail you blazed.
I was up at once, didn’t drag my feet,
was quick to follow your orders.
The wicked hemmed me in—there was no way out—
but not for a minute did I forget your plan for me.
I get up in the middle of the night to thank you;
your decisions are so right, so true—I can’t wait till morning!
I’m a friend and companion of all who fear you,
of those committed to living by your rules.
Your love, God, fills the earth!
Train me to live by your counsel.
FROM THE HEART…

“Then sings my soul”…Now my soul is satisfied! I, too, am quick to follow the God who created all and is in all. God, the One and Only knows how all things work together for good, not to harm us, but for good to those who love Him back! Remember, we love Him because HE first loved us!
When troubles come and overwhelm us for a time, “not for a minute do we forget” the bigger plan God has for us. I, too, “get up in the middle of the night to thank God” because of His overwhelming love for us.
I love working alongside others who fear and love God, too. Your love, God, fills the earth with Your Majesty and Greatness. You are my Counselor for life. You are Life!
A better song…Trumpet of Jesus by Russ Taft…
(Chorus)
I listen to the Trumpet of Jesus
While the world hears a different sound
I march to the trumpet of God Almighty
While the others just wander around
I’m a member of the Holy Ghost traveling band
We’re moving on up to a better land
I hear the voice of a Supernatural Savior
Like only those who know Him can
(Verse)
One sweet sound makes
A whole world of difference
When the world seems indifferent to you
His Melody of love calls you to be great
when mere content was all you thought you could be
So if you’ve been playin’ all your days by ear
Never knowin’ what your song was to be
Then pull up a chair, let down your hair
And take a few lessons from me
A spiritual fanfare has a sound all it’s own
At the birth of a lasting song
It’s been two thousand years since Jesus was born
And still the celebration goes on
If you feel the need to get your life in tune
‘Cause you’re tired of the drudge every day
Then turn yourself around,
Put your feet on the ground
and just hear what I have to say
Listen to the trumpet of Jesus
Can you hear the trumpet of Jesus?

Dear Heavenly Father,
You and Your love satisfies my every longing and need. Continue to be gracious to me. Your smile makes me smile. It causes others to wonder what makes me smile. It is YOU, dear Jesus, who saved my soul. It is YOU, dear Father, who provides all I need. It is YOU, Holy Spirit who lives in me and keeps me focused of the road to follow that gives life eternal. Of course I will thank you and praise you at all hours of the day or night! I’m listening for your call. “Train me to live by your counsel.” I know you are not finished with me, yet.
In Jesus Name, Amen
