Psalm 119, The Message
Part Nine
65-72 Be good to your servant, God;
be as good as your Word.
Train me in good common sense;
I’m thoroughly committed to living your way.
Before I learned to answer you, I wandered all over the place,
but now I’m in step with your Word.
You are good, and the source of good; train me in your goodness.
The godless spread lies about me,
but I focus my attention on what you are saying;
They’re bland as a bucket of lard,
while I dance to the tune of your revelation.
My troubles turned out all for the best—
they forced me to learn from your textbook.
Truth from your mouth means more to me than striking it rich in a gold mine.
FROM THE HEART…
What a testimony of learning and growing from this passage of God’s Word! Look at all the GOOD from GOD:
1. God, you have trained me in common sense…God sense, I would clarify. God has given the learner the wisdom or skills for living a good life in God’s Ways.
2. Because I said yes to you, God, and stopped wandering around not knowing what to be or do…I’m now in step to the beat of Your heart, in tune to Your song, in the rhythmic flow of your grace. You make me good.
3. You are the Source of all that is good. You are perfectly good. You train me in your goodness! I cannot be good without the Source of good in me.4. Focusing on the God’s Goodness drowns out all other voices.
5. I dance to the tune of God’s Goodness!
6. Even troubles just lead me back to the Source of Good for another day in God’s school of transformation, maturing and growing in His goodness.
7. God is Truth. He is the King of my heart. If I want to be good, experience good, and show others Who is good, I go the Source of all good. Yes, You are good, oh, you are good!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Your goodness is everything to me. Your Goodness is more than life, it is Life. Thank you for bringing me consistently back to the Source of Good. Thank you for saving my soul. Thank you for riches of your goodness in my life. There is nothing worse than being out of step, out of tune, and out of the kingdom of your goodness. Yes, YOU are good…that’s Who you are. I’m yours. I’m listening, ready to follow.
